I have been making "pilgrimages" to Fossil Rim for about 10 years now. Being able to visit and see the animals is one of the best parts of moving back to Texas. Fossil Rim has been around a lot longer than that, however. They are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2004. Every visit I am in awe that I have the privilege to see, and be so close to, such rare and endangered species. They are wild animals, but, they are so used to people, most of the time they are more than willing to investigate to see what kind of a treat you might have for them. Be sure and buy food before you start your trip. It's a tasty treat for the animals, and a necessary bribe when your car is surrounded.
If you have never been to Fossil Rim, it is worth scheduling a trip. If you are familiar with the animals, it might be time to go again...
